Resolves of the Executive Council

Resolved, That the Executive Council affirm the appointments of overseas personnel as follows, and that a letter of congratulations and promise of support be sent to each appointee by the Secretary on behalf of the Council:

The Rev. Ephraim Radner, recently ordained Deacon of the Diocese of California, has been appointed to be a missionary of the Episcopal Church, USA, to the Church of the Province of Burundi, Rwanda and Zaire. He will serve as theological tutor of the Theological College of Buye for the Diocese of Buye and Bujumbura. The appointment was effective June 1, 1981. Mr. Radner is a June graduate of Berkeley-Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut.

Miss Juliana Overland has been appointed to be a missionary of the Episcopal Church, USA, to the Diocese of Egypt, Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and the Middle East, to serve on the staff of All Saints Cathedral in Cairo. Her appointment was effective January 1, 1981. Miss Overland had been assisting in administrative and secretarial duties at the Cathedral for some time prior to appointment. Her American residence is Denver, Colorado.

The Rev. M. Richard Hatfield, a priest of the Diocese of Colorado, has been appointed to be a missionary of the Episcopal Church, USA, to the Diocese of Pretoria of the Church of the Province of Southern Africa. He will serve St. Francis Church, Waterkloof. His appointment was effective June 1, 1981.

Fr. Hatfield formerly was Curate of St. Michael and All Angel's Parish, Denver, in the Diocese of Colorado. He is accompanied to the field by his wife Shelley and son Jason.

Mr. Walter Conrad Fisher, III has been appointed a missionary of the Episcopal Church, USA, to Province IX. He will serve as Special Projects Staff Officer under the direction of the Social Betterment Committee of the Province. This is a continuation of his service in that capacity as a Volunteer for Mission appointee since 1979. The appointment was effective January 1, 1981 and will run for a two-year term.

Mr. Fisher has a strong background of experience in general construction as a self-employed person. He worked as a Consultant in this field to Province IX from 1976 until his appointment as a Volunteer in 1979. Mrs. Jeanne Fisher and the Fisher's daughter Rachel Ann are resident with Mr. Fisher in the field.

The Rev. Michael Long has been appointed a missionary of the Episcopal Church, USA, to the Diocese of Sul-Ocidental in the Igreja Episcopal Do Brazil. He will begin the work of establishing a congregation at Horizontina in that diocese. The appointment will be effective January 1, 1982.

Fr. Long has been rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Freeport, Illinois, in the Diocese of Chicago, from 1976 to the present. Mrs. Cheri Long and their two children will accompany Fr. Long to the field.
