Title: Support for Federal Campaign Finance Reform
ID: EXC041991.08
Committee: Witness and Outreach (report 8)
Citation: Executive Council Minutes, Apr. 21-26, 1991, Portland, ME, pp. 11-12.
Text:

Resolved, That the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church strongly supports the provisions of comprehensive federal campaign finance reform being proposed in Congress and by the President, which would:

  1. establish voluntary public funding;
  2. dramatically reduce the role of contributions on the part of political action committees and major individual donors; and
  3. protect federal campaign spending limits by preventing the political parties from channeling through their state affiliates money targeted for candidates seeking national office.

Resolved, That copies of this resolution be directed to the President, the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives, and the principal sponsors of campaign finance reform legislation.
