Resolved, That the Executive Council affirm the appointment of the following persons as overseas Volunteers for Mission:

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boardman of Charleston, South Carolina, sponsored by the Diocese of South Carolina, have been appointed Volunteers for Mission to serve at the Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, Kampala, Uganda. Mr. Boardman is an occupational therapist, and Mrs. Boardman is a teacher. They will assist in the development of an occupational and physiotherapy program at the school which trains and teaches handicapped persons from 6 to 22 years of age. The term of service is two years: December 1, 1983-November 30, 1985.

Mr. Peter Coffin of Marblehead, Massachusetts has been appointed a Volunteer for Mission to serve as a pastoral assistant with special interest in youth work, at St. Mary's Church, Bocas del Toro, Panama. A graduate of Boston University, he has had experience in camp and crisis counseling as well as in property management, maintenance and writing. The term of service is from December 1, 1983-November 30, 1984.

Miss Diane Louise Dempsey, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. John K. Dempsey, missionaries in Okinawa, Japan, has been appointed to serve as a Volunteer for Mission at All Soul's Episcopal Church as secretary to the Rector. The term of service is from December 1, 1983 through December 1, 1985.

Mr. and Mrs. John Lincoln of Wickford, Rhode Island, have been appointed Volunteers for Mission to serve as lay ministers and teachers at the Church of the Good Shepherd in San Jose, Costa Rica. Active College professors on sabbatical, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln also bring skills in lay leadership, Bible study, hunger ministry and counseling to serve in Costa Rica under the direction of Bishop Wilson. Term of service: November 1, 1983 - May 1, 1984.

Mrs. Elizabeth Gwendoline Locke of North Whitefield, Maine under the sponsorship of St. Giles' Church, Jefferson, Maine has been appointed a Volunteer for Mission to serve as a nurse at L'Hopital le Bon Samaritain, Limbe, Haiti. Term of Service: October 31, 1983-February 1, 1984.

Dr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer of North Whitefield, Maine under the sponsorship support of St. Giles' Church, Jefferson, Maine and the Diocese of Maine have been appointed Volunteers for Mission to serve on the medical staff at Phebe Hospital, Suacoco, Liberia and as teacher at Campus School at Cuttington College respectively. Term of service: October 19, 1983-August 31, 1984.

Sister Marian Philip, WSHS of Liberty, Missouri, has been appointed a Volunteer for Mission to serve as secretary to Sister Leslie Anne, SSM at Holy Trinity School, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Worker Sisters of the Holy Spirit are providing the support funds for Sister Marian's ministry. Sister Marian lives in Community with the Sisters of St. Margaret at the convent in Port-au-Prince. Term of service: October 15, 1983-October 15, 1984; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council express appreciation to the following Volunteers for Mission who have completed their terms of service:

Miss Laurel Adamsen of North Salem, New York, has completed a two year term of service at the Christian Industrial Training Centre in Kisumu, Kenya. Miss Adamsen, who served initially as a teacher at the school, has served as acting Principal since February 1983.

Miss Dawn Adkins of Naples, Florida, has terminated her service as a teacher of mathematics and science at Holy Trinity School, Port-au- Prince, Haiti to accept a teaching position at St. Andrew's Sewanee School, Sewanee, TN. Miss Adkins assisted especially in curriculum development and planning in the science program with some classroom teaching.

Mr. Henry Alquist of St. Simon's Island, Georgia, was appointed a Volunteer for Mission to assist in the renovation of the Bellavista Children's Home in Panama City, Panama. He completed his work as planned in a two week period in January 1984 and has returned home.

Mrs. Carol Barton of Concord, Georgia has completed her term of service at the Highland Educational Project, Northfork, West Virginia. Mrs. Barton will be going to Good Samaritan Center, San Antonio, Texas in February, to assist in a pilot networking project with schools and public housing.

Mr. E. Gray Beasley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, terminated his service at Emmaus House, Atlanta, Georgia in October, 1983.

Mr. William F. Dingus of Pampa, Texas, terminated his term of service at Emmaus House, Atlanta, Georgia in October, 1983.

Miss Linda Dyson of Arbutus, Maryland has completed her term of service at the Highland Educational Project in Northfork, West Virginia and returned home.

Mr. John Hauser of San Antonio, Texas has completed his term of service as a Volunteer for Mission at the Good Samaritan Center, San Antonio. During that time, Mr. Hauser assisted in the maintenance department, served as driver, transporting children in the Child Development Program, and assisted staff in taking children on field trips.

The Rev. Robert Hood, Associate Professor of Church and Society, at the General Theological Seminary, has returned from a sabbatical of volunteer service as Visiting Lecturer at the Centre for Applied Religion and Education in Ibadan, Nigeria. In addition to lecturing, Dr. Hood in a recent visit reported his substantial research on African traditional religion and Christian ministry and urbanization in Africa.

Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Tarducci of Newport, Rhode Island, returned safely from St. George's, Grenada, in the Diocese of the West Indies. Mr. Tarducci had been serving as Deacon in Training, assisting the Venerable A.H. Huggins, Archdeacon of Grenada, conducting morning prayer at an outlying parish as well as leading Bible studies and youth groups, and assisting at regular services. Their term of service was cut short by the political crisis in Grenada.

Miss Cynthia Wilder (Armas) of Rancho Palos Verde, California has completed a three year term of service as a Volunteer for Mission in lay ministry at Campos Dos and Tres of Project L.I.F.E. in Mariscos, Guatemala. Miss Wilder and Julio Armas Garcia were married in the Cathedral in Guatemala City on December 9, 1983. Cynthia and Julio will return to Mariscos when he completes his medical internship, and Julio will be in charge of the clinic at Project L.I.F.E.
