Resolved, That the House of Deputies of the 80th General Convention commemorates the 35th Anniversary of The Episcopal Preaching Foundation; and be it further
Resolved, That the House of Deputies recognizes Dr. A. Gary Shilling as a lifelong lay advocate of preaching excellence in The Episcopal Church, establishing in 1987 a lay-led non-profit foundation to promote and facilitate preaching excellence among priests, deacons, and lay preachers through national, regional, and diocesan conferences, as well as small facilitated groups online; and be it further
Resolved, That Dr. Shilling is appreciated as a lay benefactor to the seminaries of The Episcopal Church, serving as trustee and treasurer of The General Theological Seminary and receiving [at least] numerous honorary doctorate degrees from seminaries and divinity schools; and be it further
Resolved, That in its 35th anniversary year, we celebrate The Episcopal Preaching Foundation as a vigorous proponent and facilitator of preaching excellence in The Episcopal Church.
