Resolved, That the House of Bishops, meeting at the 78th General Convention, expresses its gratitude to Bishop Millard for his long and faithful service to the Church he has loved; and be it further

Resolved, Bishop Millard, born on October 2, 1914 in Shasta, California, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, served as a parish priest in New York, Connecticut, and California before being elected and consecrated as Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of California in 1960; and be it further

Resolved, Bishop Millard served the Diocese of California caring for the area of the Diocese that is now part of the Diocese of El Camino Real; and be it further

Resolved, Bishop Millard marched with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and others in Selma in 1964; and be it further

Resolved, Bishop Millard, upon his resignation as Bishop Suffragan of California, served the Church at the Episcopal Church Center and as Bishop of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe; and be it further

Resolved, Bishop Millard “retired” in his early 80s when he earned a Masters in counseling psychology and until age 90 he served as a chaplain in a Veterans Hospital; and be it further

Resolved, the Right Rev. G. Richard Millard will turn 101 on October 2, 2015.

Resolved, That the House of Bishops, meeting at the 78th General Convention, expresses its gratitude to Bishop Millard for his long and faithful service to the Church he has loved; and be it further
