The House of Bishops Committee on Education presented its Report #7 on Resolution A040 (Developing Young Adult Leaders) and moved adoption with amendment.
Original Text of Resolution:
(A040)
Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the 75th General Convention direct the Office for Young Adult Ministry to offer leadership training opportunities for young adults during the next triennium; and be it further
Resolved, That the 75th General Convention direct the Office of Congregational Development during the next triennium to (a) include awareness of concerns about ministry with Young Adults in training events and (b) develop educational resources for parish and diocesan leaders (of all ages) who seek to provide Young Adult ministry; and be it further
Resolved, That each diocese be required to have at least two adults under the age of 30 serving on diocesan governing boards; and be it further
Resolved, That the dioceses communicate widely the availability of these positions to young adults in the diocese; and be it further
Resolved, That the names of the young adults filling these positions be added to the annual diocesan parochial report.

adults during the next triennium; and be it further
Resolved, That the 75th General Convention direct the Office
of Congregational Development during the next trienniumto (a)
includeincrease awareness of concerns about ministry with
Yyoung Aadults in training
events and (b) develop and provide mentoring models to parishes and dioceses
so that established church leaders can foster leadership in young adultseducational resources for parish and diocesan leaders (of all ages) who
seek to provide Young Adult ministry; and be it further
Resolved, That the 75th General Convention direct the Office of
Young Adult Ministry to develop strategies for young adults for the
encouragement and inclusion in leadership roles in the life of the churcheach diocese be required to have at least two adults under the age of
30 serving on diocesan governing boards; and be it further
Resolved, That parishes and dioceses be encouraged to appoint and/or nominate young adults age 18-30 to serve on vestries, boards, commissions and committees; and be it further
Resolved, That theparishes and dioceses
communicate widely the availability of these positions to young adults in the
diocese; and be it further
Resolved, That the statistics related to names
ofthe young adults filling these positions be added to the annual
diocesan parochial report.
The Bishop of Eau Claire moved an amendment.
The Committee agreed to an amendment at the suggestion of the Bishop of Eau Claire by adding the words “including deputies to General Convention” to the fourth resolve clause after the words “vestries, boards, commissions and committees.”
The Committee agreed to several suggestions from the floor to replace the word “parishes” in all instances with “parishes, missions and congregations.”
A vote was taken on Resolution A040 as amended.

The House of Deputies Committee on Education presented its Report #1 on HB Message #57 on Resolution A040 (Developing Young Adult Leaders) and moved concurrence.
Deputy Hallas of Chicago moved to amend the resolution.
Proposed Amendment:
In the third resolve clause, delete the number "18" and its place add the number "16" so that the age range “16-30.”
Deputy McDonald of Ohio moved the previous question on the amendment.
