Resolved, That Article XII of the Constitution be amended to read as follows:

No alteration or amendment of this Constitution shall be made unless the same shall be first proposed at one regular meeting of the General Convention and by a resolve thereof be sent to the Secretary of the Convention of every Diocese; and be it further

Resolved, that a copy of this amendment be sent to the Secretary of the Convention of every Diocese, to be made known to the Diocesan Convention at its next meeting.

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That Article XII of the Constitution be amended to read as follows:

"No alteration of amendment of this Constitution shall be made unless the same shall be proposed at one regular meeting of the General Convention and by a resolve thereof be sent to the Secretary of every Diocese,..."

Proposed Committee Amendment:

After the words "No alteration" replace "of" with "or".

Add "Resolved, That a copy of this amendment be sent to the Secretary of the Convention of every Diocese, to be made known to the Diocesan Convention at its next meeting."

Abstract:   The 71st General Convention votes to amend Constitution Article XII to clarify language concerning proposals to amend the Constitution.
Notes:  

The Legislative Committee's amendment, replacing "of" with "or," was an editing correction to the proposer's resolution. The original text of the Constitution reads, "No alteration or amendment..."
