(B054)

Whereas, The Rt. Rev. Roger H. Cilley, after 25 years a priest in the Diocese of Texas was elected Suffragan Bishop of Texas in 1976 and retired in March of 1985. During his nine-year Episcopate he was, and still is, to all in the Diocese of Texas, a dear friend, a beloved pastor, a winsome expression of the love and joy of the Gospel, and an articulate spokesman for the Faith that we hold dear.

Whereas, There is so much that can be said about the life and ministry of Roger Cilley, perhaps the most remarkable offering of ministry by this faithful servant of God came during the last year of the life of J. Milton Richardson, the Diocesan Bishop, who was ill and unable to travel, when Roger Cilley made 140 congregational visitations, attended 103 diocesan meetings, and, as the only functioning Bishop in the Diocese, gave himself unsparingly, and at great personal cost, in the service of Christ and His kingdom to the people of Texas; therefore be it

Resolved, That Roger Cilley, faithful shepherd in the Church of God, and his wife, Louise, are extended the love and best wishes of the House of Bishops with the earnest prayer that theirs will be a long and happy retirement.

Seconded by the Bishop Suffragan of Texas.
