Resolved, That the 68th General Convention authorize that Eucharistic Liturgy frequently referred to as "The Lima Liturgy," prepared for the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission, provided that an ordained Priest of this Church is the celebrant, or one of the celebrants, at a concelebrated service. The elements used are to be those used by our Lord Himself, namely bread and wine; and provided that any of the blessed elements remaining at the end of this service be reverently consumed; and provided further that the guidelines for Eucharistic sharing authorized by the 68th General Convention be observed; and be it further

Resolved, That this Liturgy be authorized for use in special circumstances of ecumenical worship or for use subject to the approval of the diocesan Bishop in special study sessions; and be it further

Resolved, That the Faith and Order Commission of the WCC be requested, in consultation with liturgical scholars of the several churches, to prepare a Eucharistic Liturgy for submission to those churches actively participating in the ecumenical movement, for common authorization and use.

Whereas, Article X of the Constitution provides for alternative services to be authorized for trial use in this Church; and

Whereas, the 67th General Convention established guidelines for Celebrations of the Holy Eucharist on special ecumenical occasions; therefore be it

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That this 68th General Convention authorize for trial use in the coming triennium, for special ecumenical events, that Eucharistic Liturgy frequently referred to as "The Lima Liturgy" which was prepared in conjunction with the Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry document of the WCC Faith and Order Commission; and be it further

Resolved, That the Faith and Order Commission of the WCC be requested, in consultation with liturgical scholars of the several churches, to prepare a Eucharistic Liturgy for submission to those churches actively participating in the ecumenical movement, for common authorization and use.

Proposed Committee Amendment:

Strike the first Resolve and replace it with the following two Resolves:

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the 68th General Convention authorize that Eucharistic Liturgy frequently referred to as "The Lima Liturgy," prepared for the World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission, provided that an ordained priest of this Church is the celebrant, or one of the celebrants, at a concelebrated service. Retain the final Resolve in the original Resolution as the final Resolve in the amended version.

The Presiding Bishop requested that the content of B027 Amended be referred to the Theology Committee for further review and for a report to an interim Meeting.

House of Deputies

The Committee on Prayer Book and Liturgy presented its Report #19 on B027 Amended (Lima Liturgy) and moved concurrence with HB Message # 197 without amendment.
