Whereas, Albert W. Van Duzer, eighth Bishop of New Jersey, has notified the House of his desire to resign on December 31, 1982, in order to retire at the age of 65; and
Whereas, he has served this Church with great dedication and energy as Curate of Grace Church, Merchantville, New Jersey; Rector of the Church of the Advent, Cape May, before returning to Merchantville as Rector; then serving as Suffragan Bishop, and as Diocesan since 1973; and
Whereas, he has served as a member of this House for seventeen years as well as the Executive Council, providing leadership in such committees as Program and Budget; and
Whereas, he has served the Diocese of New Jersey with its 175 Parishes and Missions with uncommon steadiness, grace and faithfulness, being a pastor and leader during a time of vast change and deep struggle on important issues; and
Whereas, he has led with patience and strength, always committed to the unity and mission of the Church, while sharing his episcopacy with his Suffragan in an exemplary manner; be it

The Committee moved the adoption of Resolution B-32, the resignation of Bishop Van Duzer, effective January 1, 1983, for reason of age, with addition.
Seconded by the Bishop Coadjutor of New Jersey.
