Media Alert: Christmas Eve Service on Network Television from Camp Allen in the Diocese of Texas
Episcopal News Service. December 22, 2000 [2000-239]
(ENS) The only nationally televised Christmas service from an Episcopal Church will be aired on Christmas Eve, December 24, on the ABC television network.
Viewers should contact their local ABC-TV affiliate for time and day of broadcast. (Some stations tape the network feed of the program for broadcast at other times.)
The program is produced by the Episcopal Church Center Office of Communication in association with the Diocese of Texas. The Rt. Rev. Claude Payne, diocesan bishop, will preach and the Rev. Frederick Rodriguez will preside. Children of the diocese portray the Holy Family.
Camp Allen, a camp of the Diocese of Texas, prepared its 1,000-seat chapel in the Piney Woods of East Texas to accommodate the network television set-up and production crews.
Carol E. Barnwell, diocesan communications coordinator, is the diocesan liaison for the production.
This network program placement is made possible by the Office of Communication's partnership with the National Council of Churches, which facilitates negotiations with television broadcast and cable networks on behalf of its participating denominations.
