Bishop's Suicide, Extramarital Affairs Rock Diocese. Still struggling with news of the January
15 suicide of Bishop David Johnson (right), the Diocese of Massachusetts was further shocked to
learn that he had had several extramarital relationships. Diocesan clergy and lay leaders gathered
February 1 for a day-long conference to address their own pain over the events, and to suggest
ways to respond pastorally to their congregations. At left is Suffragan Bishop Barbara C. Harris.
