Bishop Laszlo Toekes of Romania, a special guest of the World Council of Churches Assembly in Canberra, Australia, addresses
a special hearing on public issues. Toekes was instumental in the dramatic overthrow of the government a year ago when he was
protected by his congregation from seizure by the secret police, sparking open resistance. He shared with WCC participants his
