[Hurricane Fran Spreads De...] — Hurricane Fran Spreads Destruction Through North Carolina. The winds of Hurricane Fran, which damaged buildings in a wide swathe of North Carolina, toppled a tree onto the historic former parish hall of St. Athanasius Church, located on the grounds of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Burlington, North Carolina. Now used for community meetings for groups such as the Girl Scouts, the building is listed on the historic register. (Episcopal News Service photo by the Rev. David Williams)
