The recent meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council in
Lagos, Nigeria provided an opportunity for the Province and people of
Nigeria to play host to Anglican leaders from throughout the world, and
they took full and enthusiastic advantage of that opportunity. When
Archbishop Robert Runcie of Canterbury arrived at the airport, he was
met by a large delegation of lay and clerical church leaders. During
the ceremonies, the spiritual leader of Anglicanism knelt to receive a
gift of fruit presented by the Nigerian children. Standing behind Run-
cie is Nigerian Archbishop Timothy Olufosoye.
