THE STATESMEN'S WINDOW, Washington Cathedral, depicts Thomas Jefferson and James Madison as the authors of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. Medallions included in the design of the window, in addition to those showing the drafting of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, portray the laying of the cornerstone of the University of Virginia; a small figure holding the torch of liberty; a President of the United States being sworn into office, his hand on the Bible held by the Chief Justice ; the Supreme Court, a group of justices seated around a table and a small figure symbolizing democracy.
