The Rt. Rev. Alphaeus H. Zulu, center, Bishop of Zululand, South Africa, called on Presiding Bishop John E. Hines, left, in New York City to discuss the continuing relations between the Episcopal Church and the church in Zululand. With them is the Rev. Samuel Van Culin, executive secretary for Africa and the Middle East of the Executive Council staff. A 1972 United Thank Offering grant of $14,500 enabled the church in Zululand to hire an international expert who advised the church on a program of community development, which is now being implemented. The Episcopal Church's 1974 general church program budget provides $13,300 for base support in Zululand. Two priests of the Episcopal Church, the Rev. Richard Kraft and the Rev. Randolph Bragg, serve in the church in Zululand. Bishop Zulu conducted a series of Lenten preaching missions in six U. S. dioceses before returning to his native country.
