View of the death chamber at Indiana State Prison. Since 1995 Indiana has executed death row prisoners by lethal injection. For ten years, 1897 to 1907, executions were by hanging. Then electrocution was used until the legislature mandated lethal injection. Since the first prisoner was hanged in 1897, Indiana has executed 83 people, including one federal prisoner and a Texas death row inmate. (ENS Photo by David Skidmore)
